Office Step

We had been asked by Wellbeing at Garon Park to provide them with an access step to the new office cabin and so our members went and looked at the site and decided that the most suitable solution was a single step with a hand rail and non-slip strips.

The materials were obtained and the shed volunteers built, painted an installed the step as seen in the photograph.

Decking

It was decided that to enable Garon Park Shed to provide an access ramp to the shed that we would construct and ramp and decided to incorporate this in to a raised decking area, thus providing not only easier access to the building but additional working space outside of the shed.

We were fortunate that after the initial lockdown in 2020 we were able to get back on site to design the structure.

A small team then worked and preparing the site and building the decking and ramp in stages, as can be seen from the photographs.

Love Letters

A trustee of Wellbeing at Garon Park was getting married and wanted 'Love Letters' to display at the wedding.

He provided the shed with some outline plans which were then transferred to the timber and carefully cut out by hand.

A framework was made and fitted around the edge and finally some battery powered lights were installed to illuminate the 'Love Letter'

Raised Planters

As part of the wider project, Wellbeing at Garon Park wanted some raised planters built. The volunteers planned the timber and materials and spent several sessions constructing and lining the planters ready for use, as shown in the photograph below.

Storytelling Chair

Following a competition at a local primary school we were given a design, based on books and cartoon characters, to build a storytelling chair incorporating as many features from the design as possible.

The team spent time reworking the design to make it practical to build and tested various methods of construction to ensure the best end result.

Once this had been done, the team worked together on a very large oak slab, cutting, jointing, sanding and sealing to make a masterpiece of workmanship.

Every member of the shed contributed something to the build or design of the chair and it was handed over to the school at ceremony attended by the local mayor.

School
Benches

The shed was approached by a local school who wanted some benches built for their 6th from outdoor space.

The team designed and built them and they were delivered to the school by some of our members, with help from the students to move them to the final location.
